Ofsted 2025:
"Pupils are warmly welcomed, and proactive safeguarding and welfare teams ensure they have trusted adults to approach with worries and receive necessary support. Encouraged by school values (integrity, kindness, self-control, and excellence), a calm, caring, and purposeful atmosphere prevails.
New pupils are supported by buddies, and sixth-form students act as reading mentors and subject-specific helpers. Bullying is addressed promptly and measuredly. Pupils attend well, enjoy learning, and take pride in their "beautiful books," which reflect their deepened knowledge and extended skills through a well-sequenced curriculum. Inclusion is central; disadvantaged pupils, those with SEND, those known to social care, and those facing learning or wellbeing challenges (like young carers) receive timely, targeted support.
Effective teaching addresses knowledge gaps, allowing pupils to progress steadily from typically low starting points into further education. The well-considered personal development programme prepares pupils well for adulthood."

We believe that literacy and the ability to read and write are essential for young people to lead long, happy and successful lives that leave a positive legacy. Therefore we prioritise this through our school day. We have also created an additional time for our KS4 students to master the foundational knowledge to succeed at GCSE through Master class Sessions every morning.
Ofsted 2025 said this about this provision:
"Leaders have recently introduced daily lessons and interventions at key stage 3 to develop literacy skills and provide basic mathematics help. Older pupils attend daily 'master classes’ addressing knowledge gaps across the English Baccalaureate subjects. These changes are positively impacting all pupils' elementary learning and closing knowledge gaps."
